Club Foot Can Be Treated

Why so much interest in "Club Foot?" Kristi Yamaguchi was born with 2 clubbed feet. That's a surprise. One would never know she had that birth defect. She is an Olympic Gold Medalist (Figure Ice Skating). Supposedly, Dancing with the Stars TV Program showed photos of her as a baby with casts on her feet used to correct this affliction.

As you can see in the photo above, club foot/feet is present when the foot is twisted in and down. This is a common birth defect occurring in one of 1000 live births. Without treatment people with this defect often appear to walk on their ankles, or on the side of their feet. I had a great aunt with this birth defect. She had a club foot that was never treated. She wore special platform type shoes and she did appear to walk on her ankles. She accepted how things were for her, yet lived a happy life. However, this birth defect can be treated and parents should notice if their child has this problem and seek treatment right away.

Kristi Yamaguchi proves that once this birth defect is corrected you can achieve just about anything you want in life. She is successful, and happily married with two daughters. She is the best celebrity dancer on DWTS this season. I think she is a shoe-in to win this competition. Check out the video clip from DWTS, Week 5, April 15.
