Senator Barack Obama, the democratic presidential candidate, gave his impressive acceptance speech last night at Invesco Field in Denver, CO. According to reporters, there wasn't an empty seat in the stadium that holds a maximum of 77,000 to 80,000 people. Some reports are saying that his speech drew 75,000 people and some reports have indicated 85,000 people entered the stadium to witness history.
Barack Obama is the first African-American to be nominated for a major political party in the United States. In addition to the number of people in the stadium, more than 38 million people watched Senator Obama's speech worldwide via satellite.
Thursday night, in front of approximately 75,000 flag waving supporters, Barack Obama cut down on his flowery, poetic type language and delivered mainly a 'policy' themed speech, instead. He launched a sharp assault on Republican presidential rival John McCain. When you view the video below of the Illinois Senator's address you will see that he made some direct attacks on McCain, including criticizing McCain's defense of the Iraq war and the pursuit of Osama bin Laden.
I was impressed with Obama's speech and I noticed he did not stammer or stumble one time during his delivery. That was a nice improvement. Obviously, the presidential hopeful practiced his delivery and appeared extremely confident due to his preparation. I think Obama did a fine job. He mapped out his agenda and gave us some answers, or at least some clues, on how he plans to run his administration should he become the next president.
The first clip is a news report from Reuters. Obama's full speech is in 6 parts, below.
