Judge Ordered Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick To Jail

A judge ordered Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to jail Thursday for violating the terms of his bond in his perjury case by making a trip to Canada and not informing the court.

Kilpatrick has been involved for months in a salacious "text" scandal. He made the unauthorized trip to nearby Windsor, Canada. The scandal-plagued mayor pleaded in court for another chance, saying that he had made the trip on City business.

I don't believe that there is a person that's ever been through this process that respects it more than I do,

Kilpatrick said.

Mayor Kilpatrick was indicted in March for lying under oath about an affair with chief of staff, Christine Beatty, and firing a police officer investigating reports of a wild party at the mayor's mansion.
