Second 3 Finalists | American Idol Season 8

American Idol Season 8 gets halfway to the Final Top 12. Congratulations go out to Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert. The second 3 finalists were announced Thursday night.

Wednesday night, the second group of 12 contestants announced into the Final 12. The new Idol rules for 2009 are that the contestant with the highest number of votes makes it to the Final 12. The featured music was the "Billboard's Hot 100 List."

Sixteen-year-old Allison Iraheta sang Alone by Heart, Kris Allen sang Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson, and Adam Lambert sang Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones.

The last group of 12 will perform next week and the final 3 spots in the final 12 will be the wild card choices of the judges.

Madea Goes To Jail | Box Office Hit

Tyler Perry's "Madea Goes To Jail" tops the Box Office. The movie opened, #1 at the Theaters, last Friday with an estimated $41.1 million. I love the "Madea" character. And I would give it a '5 out of 5 stars.' It's hilarious and there is a serious message in the movie. Also, I was impressed with Keisha Knight Pulliam's [Rudy Huxtable] acting range. She was convincing as "Candace" in the film. Pulliam had a 'heavy role.'

Though Tyler Perry's "Madea Goes to Jail" recently topped the U.S. box office, the actor-writer-producer-director says he wouldn't mind if the foul-tempered, pistol-packin' granny was dead.~AP

Richland County Sheriff Answers Critics | Michael Phelps Bong Case

The sheriff who investigated Michael Phelps after he was photographed smoking from a marijuana pipe donned a bulletproof vest, medals and a blond wig in a speech that combined good humor with a sober warning about illegal drugs.~AP

Leon Lott, the Richland County Sheriff known to take a tough stance on illegal drugs, is able to take a joke from TV talk show hosts and 'manic' Michael Phelps fans. Or, should I say, 'deeply loyal' Michael Phelps fans?

I like Michael Phelps. He has the right attitude. Phelps said he was sorry and apologized to his millions of fans, especially children who look to him as a role model. And I hope Phelps is able to win more gold medals for USA. Go Phelps!

First 3 Finalists | American Idol Season 8

Nine contestants were sent 'packing' after the first elimination of the Top-36. The first 3-out-of-12 finalists out of the group were selected last night. Check out their names and performances, below. Next week 12 more semi-finalists out of the remaining Top-24 will vie for the next 3 finalists. The following week 3 more will be selected out of remaining Top-12. The last 3 finalists will be taken from "wild cards" of the previously eliminated contestants.

No tears were shed by first three finalists of season eight: Alexis Grace, the soulful 21-year-old single mother from Memphis, Tenn.; Michael Sarver, the beefy 27-year-old oil rig worker from Jasper, Texas; and Danny Gokey, the spikey-haired 28-year-old church music director from Milwaukee. The trio received the most viewer votes.

Recent widower Gokey overwhelmed the judges with Mariah Carey's "Hero" at the conclusion of Tuesday's ho-hum performance episode. They were also impressed with Grace's take on Aretha Franklin's "Never Loved a Man," comparing her to first "Idol" Kelly Clarkson. Sarver, who sang Gavin Degraw's "I Don't Wanna Be," received a mixed reaction from the panel.~AP

You'll see 'still images' with audio of performances. I think Fox is clamping down on copyrighted material this season of American Idol. But, these are great clips with clear audio. Contestant "Alexis Grace" has an unusual voice. She seems to really have "star quality." We'll see how she performs other songs in the weeks that follow in this competition of American Idol Season 8.

A-Rod Will Not Rat On Cousin | Video

Alex Rodriguez had tremendous support from his teammates on Tuesday during his presser where he admitted to taking performance-enhancing drugs during the 2001, 2002, and 2003 seasons. A-Rod said that his cousin repeatedly injected him with the steroid obtained from the Dominican Republic. But, don't expect A-Rod to rat on his cousin. The Yankee slugger wants to stand front and center and not pull anyone down with him.

The first video clip below shows A-Rod spending 39-seconds in silence while trying to thank his teammates for their support during this difficult time in his career. And, check out what Yankees captain Derek Jeter says about A-Rod and steroid use in sports. Former Yankees manager, Joe Torre, made some remarks, also.

Pakistani-American Executive Remains in Jail | Beheads Wife

A Pakistani-American executive owned a TV Station called "Bridges" which advocated good relations between the Muslim and Christian communities. Last Thursday, the television executive walked into a police station in upstate New York and said that his wife was dead. He confessed to the crime of beheading his wife. Her remains were later found inside the TV Station. View the video below from AP to find out why this happened.

A Pakistani-American television executive accused of decapitating his wife remained jailed without bail Wednesday as his lawyer dismissed suggestions that culture played a role in the crime.~AP

Evidence Linked to Casey Anthony

According to court documents, evidence discovered in the woods where Florida toddler Caylee Anthony's remains were found last December match items found in the house where she lived.~AP

Investigators are trying their best to link conclusive evidence to Casey Anthony. They have found an entry from Casey Anthony's diary around 5 days after Caylee's disappearance. Casey indicated that she had no regrets but that she was a little worried. That day she wrote that it was the happiest she has been in a very long time. Some friends have said that Casey was jealous of the attention Caylee received from her mother. Of course, all of this is circumstantial evidence and isn't strong enough to convict Casey Anthony of this horrific crime. I'll keep you posted.

Police Officer Kills Celebrity Chimp Travis | Video

A celebrity pet chimpanzee named Travis decided he wanted to go for a ride yesterday. He took his owner's car keys and ran outside. When his 70-year-old owner could not get the commercial and TV star chimp to cooperate she called a 55-year-old friend who arrived minutes later to help. Travis attacked the friend viciously across the face and would not let go. The owner tried to pry her pet chimp away but was not successful. So... she proceeded to stab Travis with her knife. That didn't seem to subdue the animal, either. That's when the owner dialed 9-1-1.

The cops arrived, tasered the chimp, and the chimp ran and broke a window in a cruiser where another officer was taking cover. When the chimp opened the door the police officer opened fire. The chimp ran inside the house and that's where they found Travis, the celebrity chimp, dead.

Meanwhile, the 55-year-old friend is in the hospital with life threatening injuries. Zoologists have stated that a 200-pound chimpanzee has the strength of 10 men.

This was not the first time Travis had a run-in with the law. In 2003 the pet chimp escaped the custody of his owner and several cops had to chase him down.

A 200-pound chimpanzee kept as a pet and once used in commercials was shot and killed by Conn. police Monday after it mauled a woman visiting its owner and later cornered an officer in his cruiser, authorities said.~AP

SC Sheriff Says No Pot Charge For Michael Phelps

Monday, the Richland County Sheriff in South Carolina decided that he did not have enough evidence to charge Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimmer who was the winner of an unprecedented 14 gold medals in the Summer Olympics of 2008.

This is what Sheriff Leon Lott had to say:

We had a photo and we had him saying he was sorry for his inappropriate behavior. That behavior could've been going to a party.

He never said, 'I smoked marijuana.' He never confessed that.~source

The sheriff arrested 7 other people who attended the 'house party' but their lawyer expects the charges to be dismissed.

Flight 3407 Crash Site Clean Up | Video

The NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) is in the 'recovery mode.' According to investigators the 'clean up' at the crash site should be completed by Wednesday afternoon before the forecast snow storm arrives in the Buffalo area. Crews are removing wreckage from the site outside Buffalo, NY.

There is new plane crash video on the flight 3407 crash scene from Sam Menlo, a neighbor in the area. The Associated Press was able to obtain this exclusive new video [see second video clip below].

Will Roland Burris Lose Senate Seat?

I don't know if Sen. Roland Burris, D-Ill, will lose his senate seat with these new revelations, but he was angry on Sunday when fielding reporters' questions. He indicated that he is a man of integrity and he did not commit perjury when he was questioned by the Illinois impeachment panel after former Governor Blagojevich appointed him to fill Obama's old senate seat.

According to USAToday report:

Sen. Roland Burris, D-Ill., said Monday that it is "positively not true" that the reason he filed an affidavit revealing new contacts with ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich's associates was because federal authorities had told him conversations had been secretly recorded.

Republican lawmakers in Illinois are calling for an investigation into whether Burris committed perjury when he testified before an Illinois House impeachment committee that he met only with former Blagojevich chief of staff Lon Monk before the former governor appointed him to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President Obama.

Burris filed a new affidavit with the impeachment committee on Feb. 5 that said Blagojevich's brother, Robert Blagojevich, called him three times "to seek my assistance in fundraising."

Burris said Monday that "there was no change in any of my testimony," and his new affidavit was meant to provide information about contacts with Blagojevich aides about which he was not questioned by the committee. He did not answer reporters' questions.~USAToday

Celebrity Weekend Ambush | February 14 2009

It's the weekend and we get to peek in on some of our favorite celebrities. This post does not have any revealing quotes but I found some interesting video clips. On the first clip you'll see Oscar winner Forest Whitaker talk about his latest movie on gang violence. He gives some thoughtful remarks. Whitaker is such a 'thinker' and always insightful.

The second clip is a David Carradine interview where Carradine mentions his affection for Beyonce. The next two clips are raw video footage peeking in on Julia Robert's Malibu compound and Pauly Shore at the beach in Florida. Check out the clips. Pauly Shore seems to be having the most fun:

Raw Video | Homeowner Surprises Home Invaders | Shoots Back

This surveillance video was made available a day ago. The attempted home invasion happened earlier this week. The amazing video is from an Arizona resident's surveillance camera outside of his home. In the video below you'll see a car pull up and several men get out. The men allegedly are trying to break in.

Police reported the victim was home and shot at the armed men. The suspects made a quick get-a-way, but the cops later found their abandoned car.

Citizen Blago Lashes Out At Former Colleagues

Just when you thought "Citizen" Rod Blagojevich had left the stage, you discover he plans on being vocal until 'judgment day.' I hope he finds employment in radio, TV, or internet broadcasting because it's obvious he is a great communicator. Like I said earlier, if Blagojevich avoids jail time, "talking about current events or just about anything else" seems to be the former Illinois Governor's niche.

Here are three very interesting video clips from NBCChicago.com. Chicago's artistic community decided to laugh about the whole saga. They have a new show called "Rod Blagojevich Superstar" taking on the former governor, his wife, Patti, and Illinois' new senator, Roland Burris.

On the next two video clips you'll hear about some behind the scenes scandal on Blago's former colleagues in state and federal government. He spills the beans on a high-ranking legislative official during a radio interview in Chicago. It's some funny stuff. . .

Pennsylvania Judges Received Millions in Kickbacks | Lock Up Youth

These judges have received over $2 million in kickbacks. Two Pennsylvania judges are under fire, and might spend time in the slammer, for a scam in which thousands of juveniles were sentenced to detention facilities. The judges admit receiving money for locking youths up.

Every parent should be aware of what is going on with our penal system and listen to their children. This is disgusting and I hope these judges are never able to reside over any cases again. Also, the private company that created this scheme should be closed and the owners need to spend some real time in jail.

To prey on the defenseless, mostly poor families, shows you how "property" is more important than plain old "human rights." I am appalled by this report.

Flight 3407 Plane Crash Buffalo New York | Video

UPDATE: February 15, 2009 - NTSB: PLANE DID NOT NOSE DIVE. PLANE LANDED FLAT ON HOUSE

Around 10:20 pm ET last night a commuter plane crashed into a house in Clarence, NY, just outside Buffalo. All 49 people on board were killed, including one dead on ground. A woman and her child were able to escape with minor injuries from the house after the crash.

Authorities say it was Continental Airlines flight #3407 operated by Colgan Air, based in Manassas. A total of 50 people were killed were crash victims, February 12, 2009. The plane exploded on impact.

Phoenix promoted his latest movie "Two Lovers." This might be his last visit as an actor since he insists on making it as a "Hip-Hop Music Artist." Go figure. . .

Twister In Oklahoma Kills 8 People

On Tuesday, February 10 2009, residents in a small town in the state of Oklahoma had no warning that a tornado was coming. A few people died and quite a number of homeowners were badly injured when the twister hit. The video report below has some pretty good footage of the damage.

At least eight bodies have been recovered in Lone Grove, Ok, the hardest hit town, after a powerful tornado touched down in the state Tuesday. Some of the victims were killed by flying debris. One man died when a pickup truck fell on him.~AP

Chris Brown's Tarnished Image

It appears that Chris Brown's once shiny image has been tarnished. His argument with girlfriend, Rihanna, allegedly turned into his physically assaulting her and making criminal threats. Those are some serious accusations. Brown will have to deal with the court of law in the near future, but what about the court of public opinion? That can have lasting effects.

However, Chris Brown is very young, only 19, and all could be forgiven by the public as long as he gets counseling and changes his attitude towards Rihanna and women in general. Unless a woman is trying to kill a man, I think it is a against the law for a man to strike a woman. We don't know if Rihanna attacked him and he was trying to defend himself, but that does not appear to be the case in this situation since someone called 911 and Brown fled the scene before police arrived.

Nadya Suleman Reveals Octuplets | Video

The Today show has the first video of Nadya Suleman with her sought-after group of tiny tots. Suleman, who gave birth on Jan. 27, says to NBC's Ann Curry:

Noah is the blonde one. Johan is the tiniest one...[why I had to] deliver earlier.

The names of the remaining octuplets are: Mariah, Isiah, Jeremiah, Makai, Malia and Josiah.

Suleman adds,

They're doing, like, really, really great.

Grammys 2009 | Swagga Like Us Remix | MIA Kanye West Jay Z Lil Wayne TI

I didn't quite understand the purpose of an artist who is 9-months pregnant taking the stage. But I guess T. I's "Swagga Like Us" is the song a lot of artists want to perform. The performance last night at The 51st Grammy Awards Show featured Kanye West, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and T.I. I was nervous the whole time MIA, the most famous Sri Lankan rapper, was on stage. But, it was bold and fresh. If you watch the video carefully, you'll see the guys keeping their distance from the expectant mother. However, everybody performed well. Check it out, below:

Police Interview Chris Brown

Chris Brown turned himself in last night around 7 p.m. Police interviewed him at the station.

Los Angeles police say Chris Brown has turned himself in to authorities investigating an alleged felony battery involving the singer. Jordin Sparks, Busta Rhymes and Estelle respond to the incident.~AP

According to witnesses Brown, 19, driving a rented Lamborghini, was arguing with a woman passenger. The verbal exchange continued to escalate, Brown stopped the car, and both passengers got out. The woman was assaulted and Brown left the scene before cops arrived after a witness dialed 911.

The police stated that the unidentified woman had visible bruises from the attack and said that Chris Brown was the attacker.

Both Chris Brown and Rihanna, 20, were scheduled to perform the following night at the 51st Grammy Awards show. Both parties canceled their performance.

This is an unfortunate incident. They are so young and talented. I hope they are able to seek counseling and move on with their lives. View the video coverage, below:

Alex Rodriguez Tested Positive | Steroids

Back in 2003 when A-Rod was with the Texas Rangers and won his first AL home run hitter and MVP award, Sports Illustrated reported, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for anabolic steroids. In 2003 the MLB conducted survey tests to see if they needed to institute mandatory and random drug testing in the future. According to sources, 104 players tested positive that year. In 2003 there were no penalties for a positive result.

Rodriguez, reached at a Miami gym Thursday for comment by Sports Illustrated, said: "You'll have to talk to the union."

Asked if there were an explanation for the positive test result, Rodriguez told SI: "I'm not saying anything."

Sources confirmed to ESPN's T.J. Quinn that Rodriguez was aware he tested positive for steroids in 2003.~source

Christian Bale Apologizes

The audio recording of Christian Bale's infamous tirade unleashed on his DP for the upcoming movie Terminator:Salvation has made the rounds on the internet. It is so popular that several remixes have been created and famous comedians have come up with their own 'sketch' of Bale's unloading 36 F-Bombs.

On Friday, Christian Bale called an LA radio show to apologize for his profanity laced tirade against a crew member on the set of Terminator:Salvation. This unfortunate incident happened back in July. Isn't it interesting that the tape was made available to the public at the time everyone should be watching the "movie trailer?" I don't know if that was the reason for its release, but I'm a little suspicious now that I'm noticing the "timing" of everything.

Bale was asked for his reaction to the number of remixes on the web featuring his expletive-laced tirade. He responded by saying that if people want to do that it's okay with him and that he deserves it. But, People magazine reported that Bale made sure to add that movie fans should not avoid going to see the movie because of his flare-up. Talking about reverse psychology! That's exactly why more movie fans will check out the movie. . .

Octuplets Mom Interview | Nadya Suleman

Shortly after being released from the hospital Nadya Suleman, the mother of newborn octuplets, was interviewed by Ann Curry of "The Today Show" [see second video clip below]. Suleman, 33, says she had six embryos implanted in all of her fertility procedures, far more than industry guidelines recommend under ordinary circumstances. And the Octuplets' Mom says she was well aware that multiple births could result.

The single mom says she has always dreamed of having a 'huge family' since she felt a deep need to connect to others after being brought up in a dysfunctional family as an only child. Suleman tried for seven years to get pregnant without success. Later, she was able to conceive with in-vitro fertilization. This is the method she has used to have all of her 14 children. She already had 6 children before becoming pregnant with the octuplets.

The Octuplets, 6 boys and 2 girls, remain in hospital. All the babies are in good condition. The mother has hired a couple of publicists and offers are flooding in for movie rights, books, appearances, photos of the babies and her family. That's a good thing, because this young mother will need plenty of financial support. She said that she has never been on welfare and does not plan on ever being on welfare. With the publicity, good and bad, and the offers she is receiving, I don't think she will have to worry about public assistance.

Famous Madoff Clients

On December 11 2008 Bernie Madoff was arrested for conducting a 30 year $50 billion Ponzi Scheme. The number of investors who may have been scammed by Madoff contains more than 13,000 names, including talk show host Larry King and actor John Malkovich. Other investors were Charity Organizations, School Groups, among others.

Harry Markopoulos, a financial analyst, fought for 9 years to get the attention of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) about Madoff's fraudulent behavior. Markopoulos told Congress that the SEC was unreceptive to his information. And the whistleblower said that he was afraid for his life after learning that a lot of the investment funds were funneled in through a series of offshore accounts from Russian Mobs and Latin American Cartels.

Michael Phelps Suspended For 3 Months

The Olympic Swimming Champ, Michael Phelps, has been suspended for 3 months by USA Swimming after his image was published in a British Tabloid last Sunday showing him smoking marijuana from a large "Bong."

The sport's national governing body also cut off Phelp's financial support for 3 months. They issued this statement:

"This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero," the federation added.~source

Phelps also lost at least one endorsement, Kelloggs, so far. And, this outstanding athlete is contemplating dropping out of the 2012 Olympic competition. I hope Phelps continues to do some 'soul searching,' remain mentally and physically strong, and continue to train, compete, and ultimately compete in London's Olympics of 2012.

Bobby Brown Expecting Baby With Manager Girlfriend | Does Whitney Care?

Bobby Brown and his manager girlfriend of 2.5 years, Alicia Ethridge, are expecting their first child together. Brown said that he is excited about a new addition to his family. He plans to celebrate his 40th birthday, Thursday, while being sober for the first time in his life.

Meanwhile, pop Diva Whitney Houston has been in the studio recording songs for her new album which will be produced by her longtime mentor Clive Davis. On Tuesday she was spotted stepping out, with a lollipop, in Beverly Hills [see photo below].

In April 2007, Houston won a default judgment in their divorce – leaving Brown with nothing financially and only visitation rights over daughter Bobbi Kristina, 14.

1982 Tylenol Death Case Reviewed | Video

Federal authorities are reviewing evidence in the deaths of 7 Chicago-area people who died in 1982 after taking cyanide laced Tylenol. No one was ever charged in the killings. But, James Lewis, the man in the photo, sent an extortion note to the police back then, demanding $1 million to stop the killings. Though he said he was not responsible for the killings he explained to authorities how cyanide could be injected into the capsules and returned to the shelves. Lewis spent 12 years in jail for his offense.

Wednesday, authorities spent several hours in Lewis' home in Cambridge, MA. Several boxes were loaded into a van to search for evidence. If you are old enough to remember back in 1982, Tylenol capsules were the most popular prescription medicine to take for headaches and other ailments. The company had an incredible market share of at least 60%, maybe more. Back then, their merchandise was not sold with 'tamper proof' covering. And, the capsules were exactly like a capsule should be. You could open the outer coating and there were loose granules inside. It was a powerful and effective medicine.

When there was evidence of tampering everyone across America was in a panic. Seven people in the Chicago area died and medicine was yanked off the shelves across the nation. The company lost their market share and anyone connected with the company lost millions of dollars. Some people went flat broke. The company rebounded with tamper proof bottles and 'capsules' that were now really 'pills.' Tylenol remains a popular drug of choice for some, but lost quite a bit of market share. Hopefully, this case can be a "closed case" one day in the near future.

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich showed up Tuesday for a taping of CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman." He laughed with the audience when Letterman mentioned watching him on several television talk shows.~AP

The former governor has a positive outlook on life. If Blago is able to avoid time in prison, his appearances on several talk shows looks like a dry run for future employment in TV and/or radio. Will Michael Phelps Face Criminal Charges For Bong Act?

Will Michael Phelps face criminal charges in South Carolina for smoking from a marijuana pipe, taking a Bong hit, at a House Party while visiting the University of South Carolina in November? If Richland County Sheriff, Leon Lott, gets his way Phelps just might be facing charges with as much as a $500 fine for possessing drug paraphernalia and at least a $300 fine for one ounce of marijuana plus 30 days in jail.

Sheriff Lott is known for his tough stance on drugs and a spokesman for the sheriff's department said Tuesday that they are investigating. They don't know for sure if the party was in Richland County. However, if the party was held in Richland County the Sheriff's department can pursue charges.

Michael Phelps could face criminal charges. A British tabloid, "News of the World," published the photo Sunday. There is no information on who sold the photo to the British tabloid. However, Phelps, 23, told the truth. He said that was his image, and he issued a public apology.

Christian Bale Unloads 36 F-Bombs | Terminator Salvation Set | Video

A newly released audio tape of Christian Bale’s F-Bombs, swirled at his director of photography Shane Hurlbut, has caused strong reactions from those who have heard the expletive-laced remarks.

Hurlbut ruined a scene when he mistakenly walked on the Terminator Salvation set during filming, causing a 4-minute tirade from Bale, in which he threatens to quit if Hurlbut is not fired.

Some folks are saying that Christian Bale seriously needs Anger Management counseling since just last summer he was arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother and sister. The Execs of the upcoming movie Terminator Salvation have forwarded a copy of the audio tape to their insurance company in case Christian Bale quits the movie.

Jennifer Hudson Sings The National Anthem | Super Bowl 43

For the first time since her mother, sister, and nephew were slain in Chicago, Jennifer Hudson steps up with her beautiful rendition of the National Anthem at Super Bowl 43.

Hudson was poised on the international stage once again. I couldn't help but think about the incredible grief she has experienced with the tragic death of her close family members. I cried all the way through her song. But, life goes on and it was great to see Jennifer Hudson performing again.

Please view her performance, below. Some people are saying that her rendition was the best one ever for a Professional Football Game. Even though I was moved by her performance I would have to disagree. My favorite is "Whitney Houston's rendition."
But, I enjoyed Jennifer Hudson's also.

Pittsburgh Steelers defeated Arizona Cardinals and became the only team to win 6 Super Bowl Championships in franchise history. The Steelers are the Super Bowl 43 Champions! Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the proud fans in Pennsylvania!

Pittsburgh Steelers defeated Arizona Cardinals and became the Champions for Super Bowl 43! This was an exciting game right to the end. In the first quarter of the game, James Harrison from the Pittsburgh Steelers ran the longest play in Super Bowl History. Then, in the 4th quarter, Wide Receiver Santonio Holmes performed the game winning touchdown at around 35 seconds before the end of the game, at the end zone. It was an awesome catch! After that incredible play, Santonio Holmes was designated the Super Bowl MVP.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' Coach, Mike Tomlin, 36, became the youngest Coach to win a Super Bowl. Congratulations to Coach Tomlin!
