Coyotes Kill Canadian Folk Singer | Video

Canadian folk singer Taylor Mitchell died this week after being attacked by a pack of coyotes in Canada.

Taylor Mitchell, 19, was reportedly hiking by herself on Tuesday in Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Nova Scotia when the coyotes attacked her.

Mitchell was airlifted to a hospital but died from her injuries the following day.

One of the coyotes was killed by Park Rangers and the animal's corpse has been sent for testing to try and find out what caused the coyotes to attack.

Mitchell was nominated this year for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the “Young Performer of the Year” category. She was considered an up-and-coming artist.

Ricky Gervais To Host Golden Globes

"Who is Ricky Gervais?" I'm scratching my head, asking the same question.

Well... he is a well known comedian from the UK and is one of the executive producers of the hit sitcom The Office. After viewing the clip below, I found him very funny! I'll have to check on some of his work online.

Ricky Gervais will host the upcoming Golden Globes award show on January 17 2010. The last time the Golden Globes had an actual host was in 1995. It will be exciting to watch, I'm sure. I'll be able to check the replays as soon as it hits YouTube.

Are the Jonas Brothers breaking up? According to an insider, there is some whispering going on about Nick wanting to go solo as early as 2010. Supposedly, the youngest brother is writing his own material, excluding his other two siblings. And, Joe Jonas has plans of starting his own solo career.

First Lady Michelle Obama | Hula-Hoop Queen | Video

This is turning out to be a Michelle Obama weekend!

Here is America’s first lady entertaining a group of children on the White House's South Lawn by spinning a Hula-Hoop around her waist 142 times. Now... that's athletic! This was done, at the Healthy Kids Fair, to inspire physical fitness and better eating habits.

The New York Post says that after she twirled her hips all over the place Michelle Obama did some double-dutch jump-roping and then served zucchini quesadillas to the children.~source

Michelle Obama flexed her funny bone tonight, as the featured guest on Jay Leno’s “Ten @ Ten” segment.

The late night host started the conversation with a compliment.

“It sounds like I’m flirting but you have a beautiful smile,” Leno said.

“I’ll tell my husband you said that,” Mrs. Obama shot back with a grin.

Mrs. Obama fielded questions about the First Tweens' Halloween costumes? “Top secret – you need security clearance for that." What’s on her iPod? Stevie Wonder, Robin Thicke, Mary J. Blidge and Herbie Hancock made the list. How Bo celebrated his birthday? A veal cake. Ad whether her husband would prefer world peace or a White Sox World Series win – world peace won out.

Leno challenged Mrs. Obama, who was only allowed one hour of television a day as a child and spent that hour watching the Brady Bunch, to name all the Brady children in 10 seconds or less. She did so with several seconds to spare.

On family life, Leno asked who disciplines Malia and Sasha – she or the President? Mrs. Obama dodged the question, saying that her mother is the person who spoils them the most.

“Grandma: she’s worthless on the discipline,” Mrs. Obama said, “Just cookies, TV, whenever they want. It’s a shame.”

When asked about her husband’s most annoying habit, Mrs. Obama deadpanned, “We don’t have enough time,” then quickly smiled, “He has no annoying habits, right Jay? He’s perfect.”

She later offered that she gets annoyed when he beats her in a game of tennis, “and he beats me quite often.”

Leno wondered if the First Lady ever gets nervous, given all the people she meets, and who made her the most nervous.

“I’m nervous now, this is terrifying,” she said, before listing the Pope, the Queen of England and Stevie Wonder.~source

This beautiful portrait of the First Family, The Obamas, was released today. This is the official White House portrait of the Obama family. Celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz shot the historic photo. The photo was taken in the Green Room.

Leibovitz usually photographs celebrities for magazines. She is known for her iconic shots of John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, and Demi Moore, among others. Occasionally, Leibovitz has been known to photograph political figures.

This is a beautiful portrait, and the two Obama girls are adorable!

Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty | Faces 1 Year Jail Time | Video

I guess 'gangsta rap' is truly 'gangsta.'

Yesterday, Lil Wayne put in a guilty plea to attempted weapon possession in New York.

Wayne was busted on July 22, 2007 in NYC after police pulled over his tour bus because they allegedly smelled pot.

Cops say when an officer approached the bus, Wayne tossed a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside.

New York is known for having extremely tough gun laws -- Wayne is expecting to get 1-year behind bars.

The rapper still faces felony drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona ... after cops found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy, various drug paraphernalia and a handgun on his tour bus during a traffic stop in Yuma County back in 2008.~source

Swine Flu Shot Leaves Cheerleader With Dystonia | Video

This is a disturbing story.
A 25-year-old woman, married and competing to become pro-football cheerleader, decided to get a 'swine flu shot' on August 23 2009. Ten days later she developed a neurological disorder called Dystonia that results in uncontrollable muscle contractions.

This is a serious side effect from the flu vaccine that affects one in a million. There is no known cure.

During a discussion on income inequality, MSNBC's anchor, Contessa Brewer, called the Rev Jesse Jackson "the Reverend Al Sharpton." Check out the video below and see Jesse Jackson's response.

Of course, the TV anchor blamed it on the teleprompter though she said that she knew who he was and everybody else knows who he is. She apologized for "following the script."

Wow... she might as well be a robot. That's just like addressing President Obama as "President Bush" even though you are looking right at him and are aware that he is President Obama.

I guess you can't deviate from the script.

Here it comes. . . Sarah Palin is scheduled to appear on Oprah, Monday, November 16 2009. First, Oprah was criticized, by those on the right, for not having Sarah Palin as a guest during the presidential campaign. Now... Oprah's fans are voicing their displeasure by finding out that Sarah Palin will be hawking her book, Going Rogue: An American Life. Well, Palin is only doing what all other celebrities do when promoting their books, movies, music, and anything else they have for sale.

Some of Oprah's loyal fans said they will not continue to watch Oprah if she has Sarah Palin on her show. Yeah right... we've heard that type of response, especially after Oprah came out publicly and supported Barack Obama, instead of Hillary Clinton, for President of the USA. Besides, Oprah has more money than she can spend in a lifetime. She is doing what she wants to do.

Jasper Howard | UConn Football Player Stabbed To Death

Just hours after his team's win over Louisville, Jasper Howard was stabbed to death, following an altercation. Jasper Howard, 20, of Miami was a junior and starting cornerback at UConn.

State Police major crime unit and UConn police say the stabbing happened just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Hillside Road near the center of campus. Police said two people were stabbed and were found near each other on Hillside Road. Both were taken by UConn ambulances to Windham Community Memorial Hospital.

Howard was airlifted by LifeStar to St. Francis where he died. Police also said there was a second victim who is not being identified and was treated and released from the hospital, but it does not name which hospital or say if the second victim was male or female.

Police said the stabbing happened when a school-sponsored dance at the student union was let out. A fire alarm was pulled at 12:26 a.m., an altercation happened outside the building between two groups of people and then two people were stabbed.~source

This is such a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and students at UConn. May Jasper Howard RIP.

Breaking: Charges To Be Filed Against Balloon Boy Dad

As I write this blog post, there is a live news conference going on. I'm viewing CNN. Sheriff Jim Alberden of Larimer County, Colorado announced that charges are to be filed against Richard Heene and his wife. These charges will include conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The sheriff added that some media outlets could have been involved in this hoax.

These are some statements from the sheriff:

Charges include misdemeanor for filing false report to authorities.

We were manipulated by the family and the media were manipulated.

They (The Heenes) are a flight risk ... but filing warrants will follow them.

We have a lot of work to do before arrest will be made.

It has been determined this was a hoax, a publicity hoax.

Children will not likely face criminal charges.

When something like this happens, we are going to solve it.

The Heenes are not under arrest nor under indictment at this time.

There was a plan to launch the spacecraft to gain publicity. The couple wanted to create a situation where their youngest son, Falcon, was in jeopardy to gain sympathy and a TV Reality Show.

According to CNN, the sheriff department in this county started to get suspicious after viewing the Heenes interview with Wolf Blitzer earlier this week. It seems as though little 'Falcon' busted his parents by saying: "You guys said that this was for the show."

Rush Limbaugh Reaction | Bum Rams Deal | Video

Rush Limbaugh discussed the NFL's decision to block him from minority owner of the St. Louis Rams. The popular radio talk show host described it as, "Obama's America on full display."

On his syndicated show Thursday, Limbaugh said he was approached by St. Louis Blues chairman Dave Checketts earlier this year about participating in a Rams bid.

He also said Checketts assured him his involvement as a minority investor had been vetted by the National Football League.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Colts owner Jim Irsay both expressed misgivings this week about Limbaugh's involvement. Late Wednesday, Checketts said Limbaugh had been dropped from the bid.

Limbaugh says he believes he has been made an example by a players' union seeking leverage in talks over a new collective bargaining agreement. And he says he believes what happened to him was an illustration of "Obama's America on full display."

Balloon Boy Found In Attic | Video

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A 6-year-old Colorado boy feared to have floated off in a helium balloon has been found safe at his home, hiding in a cardboard box in the garage attic.

Sheriff Jim Alderman turned to reporters during a news conference and held thumbs up and said, “He’s at the house.” Alderden said an investigator on the scene saw the boy and he was fine.

He said the boy apparently has been in the attic the whole time.

The boy’s brother had said he saw 6-year-old Falcon Heene get in the balloon before it took off. The flight last two hours and spanned 50 miles and set off a frantic search.~source

Leona Lewis Attacked | Book Signing | Video

British singing sensation Leona Lewis was punched in the face by a man at her book signing in London yesterday, October 14 2009, AP is reporting.

A spokesman for Leona Lewis says the singer has been hit by a young man at a book signing session at a central London store.

The attacker, reportedly a 29-year-old man, was immediately led away by security guards and later arrested by police.

Lewis has gone to see a doctor as a precaution. Leona Lewis shot to fame after winning the “X-Factor” reality show.

Rush Limbaugh Wants NFL Team Ownership

Rush Limbaugh wants co-ownership of an NFL Team, the St. Louis Rams, and boy are the naysayers and protesters coming out of the woodwork. Civil Rights leaders, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have already voiced their opinions:

Sharpton sent a letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday requesting a meeting to discuss the “myriad of reasons” why Limbaugh shouldn’t be permitted to bid for the Rams.

And Jackson said in a telephone interview with ESPN that Limbaugh had made his wealth “appealing to the fears of whites” with an unending line of insults against blacks and other minorities.

“The National Football League has set high standards for racial justice and inclusion,” Jackson said. “He should not have the privilege of owning an NFL franchise — and it is a privilege.”

Limbaugh responded on his radio show on Monday:

“Now, this saddens me as well this disappoints me,” he said. “I know Rev. Sharpton. Sharpton is better than this. He knows better than this. You know, I didn’t judge Al Sharpton’s fitness to be in radio when he wanted to earn an honest living for once, given his well-documented past as the author of the Tawana Brawley hoax. I believe in freedom and I also don’t discriminate.”~source

But, Limbaugh has an ally in Stephen A. Smith, a popular sports commentator. This is what Smith had to say:

“If he has the money, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, and those black ballplayers that are saying that, I’m here on national television telling you they’re lying through their stinking teeth.”~source

Michael Jackson's New Song | This Is It!

An unreleased song by the late Michael Jackson was released at midnight. The song is called "This Is It." It has been released on MichaelJackson.com. There is some discussion across the web that this song actually was created in the 1990s.

"This Is It," featuring background vocals by Michael’s brothers The Jacksons, plays during the closing sequence of Sony Pictures' upcoming film, 'Michael Jackson's This Is It,' and is included on the two-disc CD set Michael Jackson's This Is It, which is the stand-alone companion to the motion picture.

On October 26th Sony Music Entertainment's Columbia/Epic Label Group will release the album internationally. And in North America on October 27th to coincide with the worldwide release of the motion picture, which arrives in theaters on October 28th and runs for a limited two-week engagement.

Soulja Boy Arrested | Atlanta

On Wednesday night Soulja Boy aka Deandre Cortez Way was arrested for obstruction of justice. He was with 39 of his friends outside of an abandoned house in metro Atlanta.

According to Henry County Police Captain Jason Bolton, the 19-year-old rapper was at a house in McDonough, GA, and took off running when police arrived.

Bolton said the house was “dark and looked abandoned” when he arrived just after 9 p.m., after being told a group of people were hanging out there.

Three women were seen walking around the back of the house, and Bolton asked them to stop. When the women continued walking, he followed them and found about 40 people in the back.

Half of the group, including Soulja Boy, bolted, and the other half stuck around, telling the officer they were at the house for a video shoot.

Soulja Boy returned to the house later, in his bedroom slippers, to pick up his Range Rover, and was taken to jail for obstruction of justice. He was later released.

Well, we know it wasn't a video shoot going on. Nobody runs from the cop if they are in making a video, do they?

President Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize | Video Reaction

Yes... I was surprised and I heard...so was the President. The $1.4 million Nobel Peace Prize goes to U.S. President Barack Obama because his:

“diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”

This is according to the 5-member Nobel Committee in Oslo, Norway.

President Obama was awakened at 6:00 a.m. on Friday to hear that he was only the third sitting president to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize. This is what President Obama had to say:

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who’ve been honored by this prize — men and women who have inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace. I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st century.

The Nobel committee said that the award will add momentum to Obama’s efforts but they were quick to add that they had not given the prize for what may happen in the future:

We are awarding Obama for what he has done in the past. And we are hoping this may contribute a little bit for what he is trying to do.

Kandi Burrus Fiance Died | Real Housewives of Atlanta

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi Burrus, suffered a loss last night. Her fiance, A. J. Jewell, died from a head injury sustained in a fight at a well known Atlanta Strip Club, according to WSB Atlanta. The name of the club is "Body Tap," located at 1271 Marietta Boulevard.

Burruss' publicist confirmed to WSB that Kandi Burrus has been informed of the incident and said the family asked for privacy. Police said it's unclear what prompted the fight. No arrests have been made.

Roman Polanski Trial Testimony | Samantha Geimer

The trial of Roman Polanski testimony could be heightening U.S. establishment as they arrested him last Saturday for a constitutional rape conviction around 30 years ago.

Polanski entered a guilty plea and was indicted for having illegal sex with a 13-year-old girl and supplying her with drugs and alcohol at the residence of Jack Nicholson in 1977. The victim in this case, Samantha Geimer, who is now a mother of four children, has openly said that she doesn’t think Polanski ought to have any more imprisonment.

Geimer appeared in Los Angeles Court two weeks after the occurrence in 1977 and stated under oath before Los Angeles grand judges. She frequently stated that she was scared of Polanski on the night of the assault, in which he gave her champagne and Quaaludes on the evening of a modeling shoot.

Geimer let the prosecutors know that she was supposed to take off her underwear and get into a Jacuzzi so Polanski could take pictures of her stripped and the director soon after got stripped himself and joined her in the hot tub.

Samantha Geimer said she told Polanski that she wanted to go back home while he proceeded to move her to a bedroom within Nicholson’s home.

She said that Polanski came over to her and started kissing her. According to her testimony, she kept on sating "NO, You Know, Keep away" but she was scared of him as no one else was there.
