Kate Middleton's Dress Sold Out | Did Obama Flub Queen's Toast ?

First, let's talk about the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) being such a fashionista. The cap-sleeved, caramel-colored form-fitting dress that the duchess wore when she and the Duke of Cambridge met Barrack and Michelle Obama at Buckingham Palace on last Tuesday sold out online within hours after photos hit the Internet.

It is a Reiss Dress called Shola. It retails for $340. This is an affordable price for a lot of "Commoners" world wide. It is a beautiful dress and some still are available on line. They are bidding like crazy for the Reiss Dress Shola at Real-Deals-Online which leads to eBay auctions.

The Second thing to discuss regarding our President and First Lady's trip to the Buckingham Palace would be the little "breach of etiquette" or as some would say "breach of protocol" by Obama in his toast to Queen Elizabeth II of England. Some journalists are reporting that the band actually made the mistake and started playing "God Save the Queen" before the President of the United States had finished talking.

But, I would beg to differ since the President is new on this stage of being a World Leader and the Queen has been following standard and protocol for most of her 85 years as a member of the Royal Family. The British are so organized and follow protocol to the letter unlike any nation you will ever see on this earth. We must give them that respect. I'm sure everything is okay, after all. Nevertheless, you know the old saying, "When In [Rome] do as the [Romans] do." I think that is how it is phrased. Just substitute any Country, within the brackets, you are visiting at the time.

However, I want to emphasize that our President, Barack Obama and his wife, our First Lady, Michelle Obama, are doing a fantastic job representing our nation, the United States of America.

Basketball Wives Season 3 Debut | Video

This is my first time viewing the Basketball Wives Reality Show. And I feel I need to view more episodes for it to stick. However, it does give us an insight into the lives of the spouses, girlfriends, ex-spouses, ex-girlfriends, and jump-offs. If nothing else, we can get some style tips, you know, see what the fashion trends are before shopping at the malls. Of course, these are women with hundreds-of-thousands of dollars to shop with, but we can go to the "budget" shops and get the "off-the-shelf-clone," so to speak.

Here are episode clips. The new "season 3" on VH1 starts on May 30, 2011:

Casey Anthony Trial: Cindy Breaks Down

On day 4 of this surprising trial, Cindy Anthony, the grandmother of the deceased child, Caylee, broke down on the witness stand. Cindy cried repeatedly. Here is a video clip of some of her emotion:
On day one of this trial, the defense came out with a bombshell saying that Caylee was never missing and died by accident. According to the defense, Caylee Anthony drowned in the family pool and her grandfather, George Anthony helped cover up everything. Also, according to the defense, Casey Anthony's pathological lying could be explained away: She was sexually molested by her father since she was 8-years-old. And, her brother Lee tried to molest her when she was a child. Of course, it has been analyzed by court experts that the defense's strategy is to establish 'reasonable doubt.' Only time will tell if it works on this jury. The trial is estimated to last 8 weeks.

Here's a video clip from CNN on Week 1 with those extraordinary opening statements from the Defense:

Trial resumes Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. ET. I've been viewing LIVE streaming video at this link: http://www.wftv.com/news/28016659/detail.html [NOTE: When they are streaming live there will be a red banner at the top of page. Click on that banner which leads to live stream].

Gil Scott-Heron Died at 62 Years Old

We wake up this Saturday morning to hear about the death of legendary poet and musician, Gil Scott-Heron. He was 62 years old. According to the latest news reports, Gil Scott-Heron died Friday at a New York hospital after falling ill upon his return from Europe. This is all the information we have at this time.

Back in the early 1980s I attended a Gil Scott-Heron concert at The Roxy in Atlanta, GA. It was a small concert so I was able to see and hear everything up close. When I looked at this great artist, sitting behind his keyboard, I thought he had such a large head on a slim body. But he was just as handsome in person as in his photos. And it was a great concert with his powerful voice and revolutionary and profound poetry.

There is no doubt this musical and literary genius was a troubled man battling years of drug addiction and other problems, but he was able to affect so many people with his messages of hope and despair. Hopefully, young and not-so-young people can heed the warning in his "coded" language and straighten out their lives before it's too late.
He has been called the Godfather of Rap for his spoken-word performances set to music, including The Revolution Will Not be Televised.

He has recorded over 15 studio albums, 11 compilation albums and 9 live recordings and artists such as Kanye West have been influenced by him. He was a voice for African-American activism, and strongly protested against apartheid and nuclear power.

Last year he released his first album in 13 years, I‘m New Here.~source

RIP Gil Scot-Heron... job well done.

Here's a clip of his signature spoken-word piece, "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised." This was recorded back in the 1970s:

Photo: Getty Images

Season 10 of American Idol was a star-studded event! A whole lot of A-List Performers got in on the act. According to Ryan Seacrest the votes this year were off the chart with 122 million votes coming in on the Final 2 artists, Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina. American Idol went all out Country this year.

And the winner is... the teenage country crooner, Scotty McCreery! He was my favorite throughout Season 10. I'm glad he won and I wish him a successful career. He and Lauren should do very well in the music industry, especially since they are at good ages to start their professional careers. Scotty is 17 and Lauren is 16.

I think one of the best performances on Finale night was that of Marc Anthony featuring Jennifer Lopez. And check out Sheila E. on percussion. They did a great job:
